There is no greater mechanism in development than
the ability of individual to think in order to assess and solve the problems
that affect them.
In Thailand’s rural areas, the thing that is evident among poor communities is that their circumstances often limit the ability to pursue their full education. When these people do not have a full education, they also lack job opportunities, relegating them to the lowest wage brackets and leaving them without sufficient monetary resources. This makes them vulnerable to episodes that draw on the families’ wealth, such as having to pay for health care costs for family members, further imposing on the option of completing their education.
To resolve the issues affecting poverty in these communities, Raks Thai Foundation assists these communities to assess their own problems and find ways to resolve them. The empowerment of individuals contributes to the strongest development mechanism available in furthering Thai society’s development.
